Our Story

How JCS began

June 12, 2000

Founded

Jarabacoa Christian School (JCS) was founded on June 12, 2000 as a ministry of New Horizons Youth Ministry (formerly Escuela Caribe).

August 4, 2000

Incorporated

Jarabacoa Christian School (JCS) was incorporated as a private, nonprofit institution by the President of the Dominican Republic on August 4, 2000.

Today

Still growing

Today we welcome approximately 460 students from age two through twelfth grade—still family-oriented, still bilingual, still committed to academic excellence and Christian formation. We keep a maximum of 23 students per class so teachers know every child and families feel truly connected.

The former page credited Dr. Philip Redwine with founding JCS as a gift to the people of Jarabacoa on June 12, 2000. It said the school began with elementary grades and had expanded to preschool through grade 12 by the 2007–2008 school year. At the time of that archived page, it described an annual student body of approximately 220–250.

Mission

Our mission is to provide a bilingual educational program based on spiritual values, in a family-oriented environment. We encourage students to develop critical thinking with a global vision, incorporating modern teaching techniques that will enable them to achieve success and become better citizens.
